Pavel Florin knew little about the sport of cricket, It was only through a chance encounter with some foreign players in his local park, that first sparked his interest in the game.
The former nightclub bouncer from Romania, developed a hunger for cricket that would never leave him. He recalls the early stages of developing his game, by watching players he wanted to emulate, through videos online.
With no training facilities in his local area, Pavel would make the 500 kilometre journey across Romania, to Cluj Cricket Club and attend training sessions to practise his batting and bowling. His enthusiasm for the sport was obvious for all to see, nothing would get in the way of his new found passion.
Little did Pavel know at the time, that he would one day play for Romania, and capture the imagination of the cricketing world, in the most unlikely fashion.
During the 2nd day of a European cricket league game, Pavel would be handed the ball by his captain, and asked to bowl in a losing cause.
The video of him bowling would get millions of views around the globe, and spark intense conversation around his unusual style of bowling.
He knew he wasn't the most skilful cricketer, but he didn't care. He just love's playing cricket.
In an interview after the game, the global cricketing family fell in love with his humility.
"Maybe people will say my bowling is not beautiful, or not effective, but I don't care, because I love cricket"
Through his online fame, Pavel has now travelled the world, visiting famous cricket grounds, and rubbing shoulders with some of the greats of the game.
